23# The End

Well here I am and the pigs are flying out the window as we speak or should that be type? I have finished something I never thought I would. Thankyou to Linda for staying calm as I intially ranted at her when I found out I was on the learning 2.o list. Thanks also to Michelle and Deb for your help and encouragement with your comments to me. I have been exposed to many things that I had only heard of people mentioning, so now at least if nothing else, I have a small amount of first hand experience and will be able to hopefully explore more and expand on my knowledge in the future.

22# Audio Books

Had trouble loading this site as well. seems to be a common theme for me.....maybe my computer is sick? Finally got there though. Would be something a bit different for all those audiobook lovers but not necessarily computer savy as it seemed simple enough to use. I guess the books can be uploaded onto your mp3 player? For me personally, it's not something I would use or probably recomend to many patrons but I can see that for many young people like my children( aged 10 and 13), this may be the only format in which they will read a book in the not so distant future (let's hope not)

21# podcasts

Two of the three search tools to find the podcasts wouldn't load so I only checked out the one. This was fine with me as I really hate trolling through sites like these in the hopes that I will find something useful or amusing!

19# Web 2.0 Awards

Had a look at a few sites. I liked the one called 'Mango Languages'. It's a site designed to help you learn a language by being able to hear actual conversations and phrases that you can play over and again, so you learn in your own time. I will let my sister know as she is learning Mandarin and I often get her to teach me simple things to say to Michael Kelly when I work with him on Thusrdays, so watch out MK!

18# zoho

I liked the idea of people having access to free wordprocessing, there was a lot of cool stuff you could do with it to like the emotions and colours.I had a play around and created a little blurb but as usuall then didn't know how to transfer what I'd done to my blog. Watch out Linda B, that's my next question!

20# YouTube

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95NVOBqHAYg&feature=user Check this guy out! He is my best friends nephew and we think he's going to be the next big thing(or we hope so!)Let me know if you like the song.I have also includedmy fav Weird Al Yankervic cliphttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsfVw9xxoNY

17# Adding blog to learning 2.0 sandbox

16# wikis

I have used wikipeadia alot in helping my 13 yrld with his school projects and am embarrassed to say I was unaware the entries can be posted by anyone and edited by anyone so from now on I will be more guarded about using this information, unquestioned and will caution my son also.
The obvious ways we could use wiki's in the library would be to set up one for book reviews, so patrons can share their thoughts on books the've read (staff too) . Perhaps one could be set up for community news and events, but I don,t like the idea of people being nasty and underhand and possibly posting hurtful or untrue information (sob, sob, weep, weep) So who, if anyone monitors the wiki or is that not in the true wiki spirit of things?

15# web 2.0, library 2.0 & future of libraries

I get completely overwhelmed at the whole imformation revolution and feel like I would have been much better suited to working in a library in say 1960!!!!!! You know I'm the person who still thinks it's cool to surf the web and I realise most 8yr olds are already way past this level, uploading songs to their i-pods, organising frequently visited sites into favourties, creating images on calendars for Grandma etc. I'm not sure how I can possibly keep up and be a relevant library officer, providing guidance and passing all this new information onto patrons when I'm not using any of it in my daily life. I got quite depressed reading about the future of libraries as being one big technological rollercoaster............I long for the quiet solitude, cup of coffee, good engaging stories in a book that Wendy Shultz talked about. I'll meet her there in that library when we all go full circle....or is that mad?

14# Technorati

Well I guess for people who are really into their blogs and think they have something great to offer everyone else else then great! GO FOR IT! But as for me. I wont be listing my blog for general consumption. I guess if you were looking for blogs on specific topics it would be useful

13# Tagging etc

Ok I really like the delicious idea and I will be able to use this as it's just so darn simple to use! I have set up my buttons and will be ready to tag any sites I visit that I like and it wont matter what computer I am using as it will automatically be saved to my del.cio.us account..........I hope! Is that right? If so cool....................

12# rollyo

For people who are on the computer alot searching for stuff they're interested in I can see how these tools are a godsend, however I so infrequently ever use the computer to do anything other than look for the occasional recipie or check my e-mail that all these tools and their potential are lost on me! However I guess that if in the future by some miricle I begin to use my computer more it's mice to know I will at least in the dark. dim, recesses of my mind be able to acess this info and put it all to good use. I have been getting into designing quilts lately and have started to research more about it's history so there may be a possibilty to set up a rollyo for sites that will help me with my research>

11# Library Thing

Righto. I listed the books in my library thingo here is the link to it http://www.librarything.com/catalog/whenpigs_fly. This would be useful for someone like me who totally forgets what I've read to try to keep a record, but actually sitting at the computer to record this data just isn't second nature to me............I wish it was
